Kidney Stone Treatment: Lemonade Drink
Labels: About Kidney Stone, Prevention, Treatment
Patients in kidney stone centers have been advised for "lemonade therapy". Whilst drinking lemonade is nothing new to be known that it can help to reduce the risk of kidney stone, it is only recently that such claim is proven.
Kidney stones are formed when urine in the kidney becomes supersaturated with stone-forming salts and there is simply not enough stone preventing substance, citrate which can be found in lemonade. Citrate concentration is not as high as potassium citrate, which is usually prescribed to people suffering from kidney stone but the citrate in your lemon juice is full of natural citrate, great for prevention.
A medical student at Duke University Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center, David Kang has found that 12 kidney-stone patients who had been on lemonade therapy for four years, have much slower rate of kidney stone development, which confirms the findings and previous claims of our much loved lemonade drink - the answer to kidney stone prevention.
