This is why the percentage of kidney stones and kidney failures in Indians are high; primarily due to genetics but the consumption of spicy food diet also contribute to the risks.
As a guideline, kidney stone patients should avoid any types of fried foods, sugar and refined food and to compensate with sufficient and alot of fluids consumption with high fiber food.

Beware: Of Kidney Stealer

BE EXTRA CAREFUL ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELLING

CASE 1

This is a true story, this guy went out on a Saturday night a few weeks ago to a party. He was having a good time and had a couple of beers and some girl seemed to like him & invited him to go to another party. He quickly agreed & decided to go along with her.. She took him to a party in some apartment and had sex. They continued to drink & even got involved with some drug (unknown). The next thing he knew, he woke up completely naked in a bathtub filled with ice.

He looked down at his chest, which had 'CALL 999 or YOU'LL DIE' written on it with lipstick. He saw a phone was on a stand next to the tub so he picked it up & dialled. He explained to the operator what the situation was & that he didn't know where he was, what he took, or why he was really calling. She advised him to get out of the tub. He did, and he appeared normal, so she told him to check his back. He did, and found two 9 inch slits on his lower back.

She told him to get back into the tub immediately, and they sent a rescue team over. Apparently, after being examined, he found out more - His kidneys were stolen. They were worth a fortune on the black market. He is currently in the hospital on a life support, awaiting a spare kidney.

I wish to warn you about a new crime ring that is targeting business travellers. This ring is well organized and well funded, has very skilled personnel & is currently operating in most major cities around the world and recently very active in ASIA .

The crime begins when a business traveller goes to a lounge for a drink at the end of the work day. A person in the bar walks up as they sit alone and offers to buy them a drink. The last thing the traveller remembers until they wake up in a hotel room bathtub, their body submerged to their neck in ice. There is a note taped to the wall instructing them not to move and to call 999. A phone is on the small table next to the bathtub for them to call.

The business traveller is instructed by the operator to very slowly and carefully reach behind them and feel there is a tube protruding from the back. The business traveller finds the tube and answers 'YES'. The operator tells them to remain still, having already sent paramedics to help. The Operator knows that both of the traveller's kidneys had been harvested. This is not a scam or out of science fiction novel. It is real. It is documented and confirmable. If you travel or someone close to you travels, please be careful. Sadly, this is very true. I REALLY WANT AS MANY PEOPLE TO SEE THIS AS POSSIBLE SO PLEASE BOUNCE THIS TO WHOEVER YOU CAN.

Treat Kidney Stones by Being Fat

Health foods can be confusing sometimes; especially when the easiest long-term treatment for kidney stones to be drinking soda. That is right, your normally promoted as unhealthy drink is perhaps one of the things you want to consider in your diet to heal kidney stones.

The high alkali content in drinking soda can help to inhibit formation of kidney stones. It is well known that kidney stones are formation of acids be it uric acid and such. The formation can be slowed down by consumption of drinking soda.

It is recommended to take diet sodas instead of the usual soda to reduce the sugar intake. While there is not much that normal average guy can do to stop climate change, the much simpler solution is to ensure to drink enough water.

As mitigation and prevention steps; you can read more here. This home remedy is simple to prepare and can also be part of your diet.

Basil leaves are commonly available in Indian stores which they sometimes refer to as Tulsi. The fresh leaves should be washed and soaked in water for about 15 minutes. Put them in your normal juice maker and blend the leaves with minimal water. The mixture will then become like a paste which you can store in your refrigerator for 1 week pe

riod. It is not advisable to store it longer as this will reduce the freshness and subsequently its power to heal kidney stones.

Every morning mix a tablespoon of basil paste and a tablespoon of honey in a glass and pour in cold filtered water, the best is to use reverse-osmosis water and drink it.

If you are very concern with the freshness of basil, and have the time to go to the local market everyday, it is much better to blend the basil leaves everyday. This way you can blend it with reverse osmosis water and turn it into juice, together with honey.

If you really do not have time, you can head to your local stores and find packed basil juices for your consumption.

If you do not like the taste that much, mix and match with other juices like watermelon or honeydew. Whilst the methods are usually not proven scientifically, they are believed to be having less complications and allergy and cheaper treatment costs. Some overseas hospitals like in China offer alternative medical treatment that resembles a holiday.

1) Qi-Stagnation

The ancient Chinese belives in Qi (an internal energy of an individual). It is believed that a stagnation in the Qi can cause kidney stones and to heal this you simply re-circulate the Qi, promoting the flow through usage of Chinese herbs.

2) Locked Heat

Heat locked in the body can also cause kidney stone which creates continuous pain in the waist or the lower abdomen accompanied with fever and bloody urine. Alternative treatment includes removal of the heat source through herbs and roots.

3) Kidney-deficiency

Sometimes what perceived as kidney stones are actually kidney deficiency of which the kidneys are losing its muscle strength to do its work. Both of treatments above can regain the kidney strength and improve its efficiency.

4) Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy through selected accupuncture points is also an alternative treatment for kidney stones. Therepautic electrodes are connected to the patients body. This treatment is a bit painful as the idea is to increase the electro-source as high as the patient can bear.

Kidney Stone Treatment

Depending on the condition of your kidney stones, treatment can be of various ways. Here are four treatment types for kidney stones that are currently widely used.

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL).

ESWL uses shock waves to break up a kidney stone. This treatment is the most commonly used medical treatment for kidney stones both for less complications and cheaper treatment.

Nephrolithotripsy or Percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

This method requires minor surgery to out a narrow telescope into the kidney through a cut in your back. The surgeion either removes the stone (lithotomy) or breaks it up and removes it (lithotripsy). This procedure is more complicated and expensive but is required if the stone has grown to a sizeable size.

Ureteroscopy.

Ureteroscopy method is often used for stones that have moved from the kidney to the ureter which requires the surgeon to use a very thin telescope tube (ureteroscope) up the urinary tract to the stone's location. This procedure can be very discomforting and a small hollow tube called ureteral stent may be placed in the ureter for a short time to keep it open to drain urine and any stone pieces.

Open surgery.

Open surgery requires the surgeon to physically remove the kidney stones through a larger cut on the belly to reach the kidney.

Kidney Stone in Pets (Dogs and Cats)

Kidney stone may not be a problem just to human beings but also to your best friends, or for some we call them as pets.

Cats and dogs are very susceptible to kidney stones, in the same way as humans are. The types of kidney stones that can affect pets are also identical to human beings, such as calcium stone, uric acid stone, struvite stone and cystine stones.

The hardest thing however is to diagnose your cats and dogs on whether they have kidney stones or not. The initial diagnosis is critical so that further treatment can be carried out by the vets. Pay extra attention if your pet is struggling or making strange noise during urination. Further examination by you on your cats and dogs can be done at home for initial screening. If the urine contains grains of solid material, then it is highly probable that your pets are suffering from kidney stones. If you cannot see this however, it still does not rule out the probability.

Sometimes kidney stones can also cause bleeding during urination in pets. At certain stage, where it is becoming critical, you can feel solids at their abdomen. If this is the case, take your pets to the veterinarian as soon as possible.

The vets can always do an ultrasound or an X-ray to further confirm the problem.

For causes of kidney stones, you can refer here.

Star Fruits Dangerous For Kidney Stone Patient

Star fruit can be poisonous for kidney patients and all it takes is one fruit or 100ml of its juice and the ordinarily harmless star fruit becomes poison in a matter of hours for kidney patients.

A Malaysian lady, of 66-year-old has been suffering from a kidney ailment, and fell into a coma after eating star fruits due to the fruit's high content of neurotoxin which is not present in other fruits.

Neurotoxin affects the brain and nerves but with healthy the kidneys, the toxin is filtered out. Uric acid kidney stone may result in physical complications of renal stone diseases such as renal failure, infection, pain, urinary tract obstruction, renal colic, gross hematuria, pallor, vomiting and sweating.

2. It can also cause mental depression, nausea, and insomnia.

3. In some circumstances, surgery will be required. Before signing up for a surgery, make sure you understand all the complications and prepare for the after-surgery treatment for physical and mental complications. Careful assessment before and after surgery is mandatory.

4. Uric acid stone alone will not cause mortality and morbidity unlike other other kidney stones. However, it is very common for the patient to suffer from malignancy or Lesch-Nyhan syndromswhich may eventually cause death.

Uric Acid Kidney Stone: Target Group

Uric Acid kidney stone can affect just about everybody but some target groups are more susceptible to uric acid stone than other.

AGE:
Uric acid stones in children are rare and evaluation for the child can be done for one of the following diagnosed symptoms:

1. Children with deficiencies and/or enzymes defects in hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT), adenine phosphoribosyltransferase, or xanthine dehydrogenase, xanthine oxidase and phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate [PRPP] synthetase. Purine enzyme defects leading to overproduction of urinary uric acid concentration such as of:-

PRPP synthetase overactivity

Glucose-6-phosphatase deficiency

HGPRT deficiency

2. Influence from Myeloproliferative and lymphoproliferative disorders such as Hemolytic anemia and from Cytotoxic drugs

4. Dehydration which will cause high urine solute concentration and ultimately urinary uric acid concentration which can also be due from excessive dietary purine intake

5. The development of uric acid kidney stone is due to significant amounts of urate in the renal pelvis, ureter, or bladder that can be caused from insoluble products of purine metabolism which can precipitate when urinary pH is low such as 2- or 8-dihydroxyadenine, adenine, xanthine, and uric acid.

Developed Uric Acid Kidney Stone

Uric acid can also occur in the renal tubules causing gouty nephropathy, urate nephropathy, and uric acid nephropathy due to the renal insufficiency because of excessive uric acid precipitation within the renal tubules.

Types of Illness Associated with Urination: Urgent Urination

While kidney stone patients would have difficulties in urinating, some people are experiencing too frequent urination or urgent urination. This is also a type of abnormalities where the patients need to urinate more often than usual. Urgent urination is a sudden, compelling urge to urinate, along with discomfort in your bladder. There is also nocturia condition where the sufferer finds a need to have frequent urinations at nights. Young and healthy adults should be able to sleep for 6 to 8 hours without having to urinate. The older you become and in your middle age and older, you tend to urinate once in the early morning hours.

So what are the common causes associated with the frequent urination?

There is a risk of urinary tract infection that could lead to this condition. The inflammation would reduce the bladder's capacity to hold urine making even small amounts of urine to cause discomfort and pain.

People who are experiencing diabetes, pregnancy, or who have prostate problems are are likely to suffer from frequent urination as well.

Other causes for urgent urination may include any of the followings: interstitial cystitis, consumption of medicines such as diuretics, overactive bladder syndrome, stroke and other neurological diseases, bladder cancer or dysfunction and even radiation therapy.

Nocturia or nightime urination could be due to high caffeine intake or alcohol consumption.

What does a Consultant Urological Surgeon do?

He/she can do many things in the field and of them is to treat kidney stones patients.

First you need to have a medical qualification in at least from a medical institute. Masters degree in Surgery at the prestigious colleges would help.

Working experience of lets say ten years of post graduate training in General Surgery and Urological Surgery could bring you a step closer to become a Consultant in Urological Surgeon.

The general urological practice includes treatment of urinary stones, urinary infections, BPH prostatitis, female urology and erectile dysfunction. To become a consultant, one has to have the credit of introducing Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy and other laparoscopic urological operations and be experienced in laparoscopic and open cancer surgeon in the region.

And then you are qualified to become a consultant for urological surgeon.

And we wonder why they get paid so much.

Kidney Stone Treatment: Liphotripsy Causes Diabetes?

One of kidney stone treatment is lithotripsy. There has been research that found a relationship between lithotripsy and diabetes for kidney stone patients under the treatment. This has created a concern for the patients under treatment.

Urologists in the US have found that not only lithotripsy treatment for kidney stones has links with diabetes, but as well as to hypertension (high blood pressure). Whilst drinking lemonade is nothing new to be known that it can help to reduce the risk of kidney stone, it is only recently that such claim is proven.

Kidney stones are formed when urine in the kidney becomes supersaturated with stone-forming salts and there is simply not enough stone preventing substance, citrate which can be found in lemonade. Citrate concentration is not as high as potassium citrate, which is usually prescribed to people suffering from kidney stone but the citrate in your lemon juice is full of natural citrate, great for prevention.

A medical student at Duke University Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center, David Kang has found that 12 kidney-stone patients who had been on lemonade therapy for four years, have much slower rate of kidney stone development, which confirms the findings and previous claims of our much loved lemonade drink - the answer to kidney stone prevention.

Medicine Journal by Writers

If you are particularly concerned about health, you can get latest info from collective writers at dissectmedicine.com for fresh news and stories including ones for kidney stone.

Kidney Stone Experience: Early Detection

Today a friend of mine who had previously suffered from Kidney Stone was sharing his story over coffee. For many kidney stone patient, it came undetected until when they felt uneasiness when urinating. Some patients however, diagnosed this accidentally with X-ray.

Usually, you know something is wrong after urinating a bright red stream of blood, and the urologist would suggest an X-ray which involves a cocktail of chemicals for detection. Now this chemicals for detection do pose minor health effect, but it is necessary so the x-ray can properly see into the urinary tract.

You would be advised to drink plenty of liquids and strain your pee with a paint strainer to catch a stone to determine which variety of kidney stone you are suffering from.Usually a kidney stone breeder would feel occasional intense groin pain, usually in the middle of the night. You could slow down the process of kidney stone formation by cutting down on dairy products.

Treatment is usually not expensive and some are even can be done homemade via traditional recipes and mixes of ingredients easily available in the supermarket. If the kidney stone is not bad, you can also use kidney stone dilutor which dilutes your stone. If things get critical then you might need to consider surgery.

Kidney Stone: Uric Acid Causes

Uric Acid Stone is a kidney disease that is caused by acid formation in the body which recently has seen an uptrend which most likely due to diet, body habitus, and social reasons.

Typical Uric Acid (Kidney Stone) in humans

As like most of kidney stone types, struvite stone affects the purine metabolic pathway, and its treatment is primarily medical. As advised water intake should be no less than 6-8 glasses of mineral water per day. For someone with a kidney stone, it is important question of whether dehydration could cause a kidney stone.

There is a clear indication of whether kidney stone can be caused by dehydration and urologists are in clear and advising that in theory the salt/water imbalance could cause high salt content in the body system and later turned into kidney stone.

One of the easiest solution to kidney stone is dilution but this is as a prevention and not the ultimate cure for kidney stone. One has to drink plenty of water daily in order to provide the body with enough liquids to flush out the system effectively especially in a hot or dry climate or summer time.

The risk is even higher if you are an active person and maintain a healthy lifestyle through daily exercise.

Struvite Stone

What is Struvite Stone?

Struvite stone is a one of various types of kidney stone or often known as infection stones are in the presence of long standing infection with certain bacteria which responsible for transforming urea in the urine to ammonium. Ammonium will form stones from reactions with magnesium and phosphate. They continue growing, like coral often referred to as staghorn calculus until the inside of the kidney is filled with stone.

Struvite stones are different in the way they present and in their treatment.

What Causes Struvite Stone?

Struvite stones are caused by urea-splitting, usually gram-negative, organisms such as Corynebacterium group F1. The bacteria has been known to respond to the appropriate antibiotic treatment.

Struvite Stone Symptopms

Struvite stones do not cause renal colic due to their its size. Whilst the name suggest that struvite stones is a kidney stone due to infection, it does not cause typical symptoms of cystitis such as frequent urination or burning. Some of known symptoms are tiredness, weight loss, loss of appetite and in some cases discoloration of the urine. They could also be responsible for occasions of back pain, high fevers and offensive cloudy urine.

How to Cure Struvite Stone?

Treatment - As bacteria form a part of the stone it is essential that all stone is removed. If even a small amount remains it can start rebuilding itself. The choices for treatment depend upon how much kidney damage has been done. If the kidney is almost destroyed, then removing it with a nephrectomy may be the best option. If the kidney is worth preserving then PCNL or ESWL can be used to clear the stone. A combination of the two is often applied.

What is Calcium Stone?

  What is Calcium Stone?

  Causes

  What is Calcium Stone?

Calcium Stone is a kidney stone made primarily of calcium, either in the form of calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, or a combination of the two. The most common type is composed of calcium oxylate crystals, and factors that promote the precipitation of crystals in the urine are associated with the development of these stones.

Causes

Conventional wisdom and common sense has long held that consumption of too much calcium can promote the development of kidney stones. However, current evidence suggests that the consumption of low-calcium diets is actually associated with a higher overall risk for the development of kidney stones. This is perhaps related to the role of calcium in binding ingested oxalate in the gastrointestinal tract. As the amount of calcium intake decreases, the amount of oxalate available for absorption into the bloodstream increases; this oxalate is then excreted in greater amounts into the urine by the kidneys. In the urine, oxalate is a very strong promoter of calcium oxalate precipitation, about 15 times stronger than calcium.
